As the East African Community Inter-Parliamentary Games neared closure in Kampala, Kenya's Bunge FC were dealt early blows after key players Samuel Atandi of Alego Usonga and Clive Gisairo of Kitutu Masaba, who was a striker, limped off during their 2–1 loss to defending champions Uganda.

Atandi twisted his ankle after an awkward landing in the first half, while Gisairo was forced out following a collision with the Ugandan goalkeeper.

After the incident, team medics are closely monitoring the duo to determine the extent of their injuries and possible return. Despite the setback, Atandi remained upbeat.

“I was advised to stop to avoid worsening the injury. I’m under observation but hopeful of being ready for the next match,” he told the pressman.

Deputy captain Aaron Cheruiyot said the injuries disrupted their plan.

“Atandi and Gisairo were central to our strategy. We hope they’ll be fit for the next match,” he said.
